How does the rostered duty work?

Kew Toy Library relies on members to volunteer just four hours (two roster duties) a year, so that we may continue to provide this valuable community service. Volunteer sessions can be completed at the toy library during opening hours, at fundraisers, special events or working bees.
If you don’t think you’ll have the time to complete the two sessions, you can pay a $60 roster exemption levy instead.

What happens if I lose a toy?

If you can’t find a piece of the toy you can return the toy without that piece and bring the missing piece the next time you are at the Toy Library. A deposit may be charged for missing pieces, bags or toys which will be refunded when the piece is returned. Cases of major loss or damage are treated individually.

How do I complete my roster duty?

You can view available roster duty sessions and sign up online:

Click ==> to scroll forward to view future months. Available sessions that require volunteers have 'self-nominate' buttons. Click button for desired session. A pop-up appears on screen to confirm the session you nominated for yourself and an email is sent to confirm this also. You can click on the calendar again to check/confirm your volunteer/roster duty session. View a quick video guide.

There will be a fine depending on the toy's value and lifetime in the toy library. Every damaged toy is treated individually. We do not replace batteries at the Toy Library, but we assume all battery functions work when fresh batteries are used – if this is not the case please let us know.
