Member responsibilities

Our aim is to keep membership prices affordable while ensuring that our toy catalogue remains in top borrowing condition for all members. To achieve this, we rely on our members to be responsible for the toys that they borrow.

Your toy library membership has some responsibilities associated with it:

Borrowing

Each family may borrow toys for three weeks, majority of toys can be renewed once online, however, some new or popular toys may not be renewed online.

Simple steps to help us run smoothly:

  • Check the bag/box label for any missing or broken pieces and letting us know within 24 hours

  • Give all toys a thorough clean (including outdoor and ride-on toys)

  • Wash any costumes or dolls clothes before returning them.

  • It is your responsibility to return items clean, there is also a cleaning station at the toy library if you haven't had a chance to do it before returning your toys.

  • If you’re missing or have broken any pieces, return the toy without that piece and bring the missing piece the next time you are at the Toy Library. A deposit may be charged for missing pieces, bags or toys which will be refunded when the piece is returned. Cases of major loss or damage are treated individually. If a toy is broken or not working properly please tell us about it so we can fix or retire it. We do not replace batteries at the Toy Library, but we assume all battery functions work when fresh batteries are used – if this is not the case please let us know.

Fees

Cleaning fee

In a COVID normal world, we take our responsibility for health and safety very seriously. To ensure we are complying with the current health guidelines, we charge a $5 cleaning fee for each toy returned dirty. It is imperative the toys are returned clean to us to enable us to rotate them and get them back on the shelf as quickly as possible.

Overdue fines

An overdue fine of $1 per member per week applies if toys are not returned or renewed before the due date.
